Avarus, Jarse & Mik Quantius in Final Club

Avarus, Jarse & Mik Quantius in Final Club

Two-thirds-Finnish, one-third-German show on Thursday May 19th in Final Club in Žižkov. Starring psychedelic-folk formation Avarus from Tampere, solo project of their compatriot Jarse and German vocal experimenter Mik Quantius.

Finnish free form rock unit Avarus celebrate their 10 years of activity by embarking on a tour in continental Europe in May 2011. The group has toured Europe several times before and also twice in the USA. Today, the band's discography consists of circa fifteen releases (see discography below). May 2011 sees the release of a cd/dvd set with live recordings and footage from the group's adventures throughout the ten years.

On this tour, Avarus will be joined by Jarse who is a member of Finnish group Shogun Kunitoki (on the Fonal label). Jarse has been working on his solo debut for a while now. Jarse combines traditional songwriting with psychedelic Terry Riley-ish repetition.

The third act of this lovely package is the one and only Mik Quantius who during recent years has been part of the legendary krautrock band Embryo. Mik's solo performances are hilarious and uplifting. Among other things, he combines physical comedy with several different singing techniques. Although there is space for sounds that seem accidental or random, everything is delivered with a flawless musical vision. Quantius is a virtuoso, truly one of a kind.
